Wick YFC Entertains at the Princess Royal Theatre, Port Talbot
Saturday, 27th January saw the curtain raise on our annual Pantomime at the Glamorgan YFC Finals. A superb array of acting was seen from all clubs with Wick YFC achieving a commendable and tightly fought 3rd place with nominations for Best Director and Best Technical performance.
Aptly named “Ice Maiden & The Seven Days of Summer”, directed by Jordan Forse and our Club Leader Charlotte Thomas with the most incredible costumes by Mrs Sally Holmes and again Charlotte Thomas. The boys did not let us down with a superb stage design particularly the evil Ice Maiden’s sleigh designed by Luke Holmes.
The scene was set in the summer village with both Evan Thomas and Rose Lubin as Sky and Summer mesmerising the audience with their acting skills and setting the scene in a happy and contented village. Enter the the most captivating and charismatic Granny Gale played by Tom Edwards taking the role of the Panto Dame with his trusty Bonnie Bear at his side, played to perfection by Luke Holmes. However the threat of the vilified & terrifying Ice Maiden superbly played by Annie Evans terrified the villagers. The wicked maiden was assisted by her 2 abominable snowmen played to perfection and with great flair by our Club Chair and Vice Chair James Morgan and Alex Edwards. Mention must also be made of Auvald of Autumn superbly played by Tanya Bhanaut who captivated the audience throughout the entire performance.
Alas the Good Fairy played by Katie Evans concocted a plan to overthrow the odious Ice Maiden. Assisted by the ensemble including Victoria Powell, Catrin Long, Sally and Jack Henry who brought flair, colour and camaraderie to the stage. A superb solo performance by Lucy Roberts, a junior club member and assisted by her comrades Elouise Guilarme & Belle Roberts entranced the audience.
After much furore and evil concoctions from the Ice Maiden, her nasty and vilifying ways were brought crashing down and the village returned to harmony. Continuous audience interaction and energy throughout demonstrated the success of this years efforts. A great time was had by all.
We would like to say a very big thank you to our sponsors, the parents for their continued support and Farmers Barns, Llantwit Major for the use of their facilities during our practices.
