New Team Guarantees Fun-Filled, Action Packed Year Ahead!
Wick Young Farmers Club held our AGM on Tuesday, 21st August with a fantastic turnout. It was an absolute pleasure to see so many faces from the past as well as some of our most junior members in attendance. We were delighted to re-elect Mr John Lougher of Ty Tanglwyst as our President. John has been an incredible asset to us over the years and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm which we couldn’t possibly do without. We then welcomed Lloyd Harris Thomas & Tom Edwards to our Club Leader bench serving alongside Jon Thomas and the Club’s back-bone Charlotte Thomas. We were sorry to see Mrs Miranda McGinn step down due to work commitments, her experience & support over the years has been incredulous.
And so to the members. Congratulations to Alex Edwards, our new Chairman and Tori Powell as Vice Chair assisted by Rose Lubin as Secretary. This team has been an absolute credit to us over the past year and we look forward to another action packed, fun-filled, adrenaline pumping year ahead. Del Davies continues as Minute Secretary, Alisha Major as PR and newly elected Luke Holmes as Treasurer. Finally Hollie Jones & Lloyd Harris Thomas became our Stock-judging Captains. Well Done All!
Lloyd went on to achieve further notoriety from County YFC on Thursday as the newly elected County Rally Chairman. Congratulations Lloyd and very best wishes in your new role.
Having celebrated our year’s successes at our first Summer Fest on Saturday, 18th August with the nationally acclaimed DJ James Bramhall we now look forward to the commencement of our new YFC year starting in September. Our calendar is almost finalised and will be available on our website shortly. Last year we increased our membership by 42% and we aim to go even better this year. New Members Night will be held in September, offering a taster session, the date will be announced on our social media shortly. If you’re between 10 - 26 years old & want to meet new friends, boost confidence, learn new skills, travel the globe or simply have fun, we welcome you to be part of our family. Competitions are incredibly varied ranging from drama, pantomime, public speaking, stock judging, carpentry, craft, singing, dance to name a few. Our Club is organised by our members for our members. Members set their own pace under the guidance of our fully verified and highly experienced Club Leaders.
Last year some of our members represented Wales YFC & set off around the world including Argentina & Canada; other members enjoyed a skiing trip to France. Whilst working hard within competitions we enjoyed trips to Jump Jam, Amdani Fitertainment, Bridgend Golf, Treetops, Playzone, Winter Wonderland to name a few. There is never a dull moment in Wick YFC.
