Dai Basset
I just wanted to express my gratitude for what Wick YFC did for me in so many ways. The training and experience I received at local and also county level has always been of huge benefit to me.

As well as dong some farming, I have also been privileged (and still am!!) to be involved in radio, television, emceeing and entertainment here in Canada, as well as previously, "back at home".

I am delighted that the Better Luck Next Time cup I presented is still awarded as an ironic second prize at the annual drama and entertainment competition in Glamorgan!

The coaching of so many insightful and talented Young Farmers members, set me on a career course that would have been out of the question, if I had not had so many wonderful years as a member of Wick Club, and Glamorgan County.

I am so grateful to all my friends from YFC, and I frequently explain to lots of people here in Ontario, how the UK YFC benefits so many from all walks of life, whether it be on the farm, or on stage, or as in my case, a radio broadcaster, a role I thoroughly enjoyed for eight years.

"Club" was like a great big family, giving a social life that was absolutely fantastic {apparently}......with more parties and dances that I can ever mention, or in some cases-remember:)

I was very humbled in recent years, to be awarded The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal for Community Involvement, and for this I give the credit to the enormous number of people who have helped me -in Wales and also in Canada - all of us together "doing our bit"!

I wish Wick Club and Glamorgan YFC all the very best going forward. I think of you fondly very, very often.

Sincerely,
Dai Bassett.
