Luke Morgan
Chairman
As 3rd generation of my family to be part of Wick YFC, I’m delighted to be elected as Chairman for a third year. From my earliest childhood memories with grandad on his tractor, studying agriculture at Pencoed College and Mechanisation at Lackham, Wiltshire; farming’s always been my way of life. Having driven Combines in Western Australia I then embarked on a tour of New Zealand, I now manage the family farm’s arable production whilst continuing part-time for R&L Anthony.
As Chairman of Wick YFC I hope to build on our successes of last year, strengthening our bond within the community, enhancing our image within County & Wales whilst ensuring an efficient and effective communication structure. We’ve an excellent core strength within Club, let’s elaborate on that and most importantly let’s continue to work together and enjoy the YFC journey.
Michael Mitchell
Vice Chairman
This is my secound year as a member of Wick YFC and will be my first in my new role as Vice Chairman.
I have been involved with agriculture since a young age. My dad works on a farm and when I was younger I used to go to work with him whenever I could. During my early teens I began working on the farm during the weekend and school holidays. This gave me the drive to pursue a career in agriculture. I studied agricultural engineering at Lackham College in Wiltshire for 3 years where I achieved a level 3 diploma in Land Based Technology. In 2015 I started working for Frank Sutton Ltd where I then went on to complete a 3 year apprenticeship before becoming a qualified agricultural technician.
I am very pleased to have been given the opportunity to become vice chairman for this year. I am looking forward to supporting Luke in his role as Chairman. I hope to contribute to the club by building on our current strengths and skills therefore ensuring the continuing success of previous years.
Alisha Major

I’m incredibly honoured to be elected Secretary of Wick for a 3rd year and look forward to continuing the challenges of the role from supporting not only our Chairman but Club as a whole, most importantly working together as a team, ensuring we, as a Club, enjoy every second of the year ahead.

My hobbies include drawing, piano as well as helping on my dad’s farm. I’m very much looking forward to being Minute Secretary for a third year and enhancing the skills I’ve learned within the YFC movement.
Charlotte Thomas
President
I am honoured to become the new Club President to Wick & District Young Farmers. Both my parents were involved in Young Farmers with my Father in Wick and Mum in Maendy. To continue the tradition I joined at the tender age of 14, it has provided me with a plethora of new skills that I’ve carried with me for life! I have worked along side our Club Presidents as far back as Miss EC Bruce who’s Father, Colonel Bruce, was the very first President when club was founded in 1936. I consider it to be a privilege to be walking in their footsteps. Since joining I’ve not looked back, it’s enabled me to participate and represent Club, County, Wales and National on numerous occasions, travel the Country and made a great foundation of friends along the way.
I have now held every office in YFC as well as Miss Rally Queen, Miss South Glamorgan, Miss NFYFC and Wales YFC Treasurer for the Girls Committee! My recent role as Club Leader for the past 20 years has put me on the right track for my forth coming responsibilities as President, and I’m looking forward to supporting Club with the same enthusiasm as my predecessors.
If you would like to know more about the amazing work that the voluntary organisation of the Young Farmers provides, from the varied programme of competitions to the tremendous social aspect, please feel free to contact us! You will always find a warm welcome at Wick YFC. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet up, learn new skills, have fun and gain confidence at the same time!
We are looking forward to celebrating our 85th year as the longest running club in Wales (who have continued to meet during the War as well as during the recent pandemic!) Long may we continue

Tom Edwards

Tom joined Wick YFC at age 11 and has been both our Chairman and Stock Judging Captain. As a member Tom was an incredible asset to us within Public Speaking, Drama, Fencing, Carpentry, Brains Trust and Stock Judging to name a few. He’s been Junior Stockman of the Year and represented County in Public Speaking & After Dinner Speaking. He has captivated audiences on numerous occasions with his charismatic performances, particularly playing the role of a dame. As Killdare in the Club’s production of Tick Tock he was outstanding winning Best Actor, indeed last year he undertook his debut as Director of our drama production where he earned a nomination for Best Director! His carpentry skills are second to none; his spectacular design and construction of the infamous plane measuring 30ft wide by 10ft tall and equally his pirate ship during our annual entertainments will remain in everyone’s memory for many years to come.
We are so pleased to have Tom as our Club Leader, he brings a deluge of experience and expertise to the team

Jon Thomas
Club Leader
As third generation of my family to be a member of Wick YFC, I feel extremely privileged to have followed in my grandfathers & fathers footsteps as a current Club Leader. Having been a club member for many years both as a competitor and Club Chairman, YFC provided me with confidence & many skills. These have proven extremely useful whilst establishing my own agricultural/transport business 10 years ago & indeed in its day to day running. YFC has always been a big part of my social life, having been on 5 National AGMs & attended many a barn dance. I've met many interesting characters over the years & made many great friends through YFC.
